Holiday prep.

HOLIDAY PREP.
Also known as using your gifts and talents:

On the 25th of each month I try to do at least one thing to get ready for the holidays this past weekend I was at a few yard sales. I found some things to use. I have been gathering supplies for holiday giving. I found some baskets and decorations to paint that will go on the tree at Christmas time. The dear grand daughters and I have realized that school really cuts in to our craft time! I’m saving some things to work on when school is out. We like to paint on projects out side. I got a box of fabric and some of it is holiday print I’m SO excited! I can barely contain myself. Some of the fabric was already cut in to circles for jar gifts.

I found small jars for some RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) gift baskets I like to have a few on hand I’ll put some bath salts, dish clothes that can also be used in the tub, a candle journal, small tuck in gift books I find from time to time, note cards and fabric gift bags I sew up.

Jar gifts have been wonderful tuck in gifts for sharing with those you love, or as door prizes of club or group meetings, and shower gifts for prizes when playing those get to know you ice breaker games. I’m using plastic peanut jars this year they are non breakable and lighter weight so cost less to ship.

At the thrift shop I found a book on hat making that’s some thing I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time I can’t wait to use this one. I have some Dalmatian fleece fabric that will be a prime candidate for this.

I’m going to be enjoying some time in the sewing room this summer. I always look forward to retreating to the cool of the basement in the peak of the heat of the summer season. Now is the time to find some of the best bargains for close out of season Christmas items. With Mother’s day just around the corner too this is a great time to get some things together.
