Biker blog 18 St. Mary’s, Mt.
Vacation St Mary’s, Mt. 164 mi. 2 bikes
It was very windy travel today nerve wracking and slow going. Warm record highs. Forest fires are all around here this is new and rather scary. Good travel we arrived by 1:30 p.m. had lunch in town and fueled up. Parie Craft log home base tour did not turn out even though we had tried to make arrangements. That was disappointing for both of us.
Good travel the first half of the trip. Nice thick mattresses here! =D Hope to sleep better tonight cooler here up on top of the mountains great weather! We unload fast now! It’s becoming a habit! =D
We can hear helicopters dumping water on three major forest fires near by we are spitting distance from Canada where they have closed the roads in to tourists. Time to pray they are talking about possible evacuations tonight we discuss the option of not staying and decided to stick it out.
Dh washed his bike (I know now that washing a bike is a stress reliever for him.) We cover his bike leave mine uncovered we went for pin on it but there were out I had a smoothies and got some rolls for breakfast and stopped for beverages cause it’s SO hot! We learn there is a phase 2 county wide alert because of the fires and every one is edgy winds are gusting 50-60 mph. 40 now. Dh got me a neat card for my birthday. No cake party or other celebration.
I’m stiff and sore from the 600 steps in the cavern yesterday and achy.
People are concerned and talking about fire storms of before with the wind and all. This is not our best day! I washed my saddle bags (Now I’m stressed!) They were really getting dirty from when we road on wet roads on the Pinehurst rip. Hot tub only here not pool.
For lunch we had buffalo burgers and waffle fries delicious. Prices were a rip off however. We got to see a Kamping Kottage 14’ x 20’, it was neat fully self contained. We walked around the camp ground to unwind.
With all the smoke the sunset was neat, the smoke was billowing and creating this golden glow we could see ash is falling from the sky. The smoke looked just like clouds.
Fellows campers traded prizes, and stories. Food and snacks are costing more than we anticipated we now realize how much the motor cycle trailer saves us in that respect being able to bring our own. St. Marys’ cruise on the lake is not taking reservations because of the wild fires. We are disappointed about this.
