Vacation 5-05

What I did on my vacation:
I’m reading Paradise Park a little bit heaver reading than I wanted for
vacation. I finished reading The Passionate Church by Mike Breen and
Walt Kallestad.

It rained we were going to go to the farm and mow, get a room at a place we like to stay but rain cancelled, we were going to go to the mall and a craft fair but it rained last weekend too. I was pretty bummed about that! I did get some plants and was able to plant two more rose bushes some pinks lavender. Watched dh’s new fishing camping hunting video. I finishes reading a book the passionate church over the weekend. I mowed between rain storms. Long story I do the mowing here after the family joke became okay dad which one of mom’s plants did you mow off this week! I did not think it was funny at the time. I have mowed off a few of my plants, but at least I can tell which ones are weeds!

We watched dh's new fishing hunting camping video.

Mon. More rain. Boat is in and out of the shop for minor repairs. Dear hubby did honey do's and both the budgets for the farm home, got the outside Christmas lights down. For me is was granny duty, car pool and regular stuff around here, except we went out for dinner with our dson (dear son) and his girls, belated mom’s day I did not want to fight the crowds on Sun. dson had finals this week so he brought some studying with him. We had rented a movie we had wanted to see at the movie house the DVD “National Treasure” and we really enjoyed it.

Tues.
Rain rain and more rain. Flood warnings out!
Half a day of granny duty, dear hubby did half of the car pool. We made a date out of going over town to get laundry soap, first a mart stop I did a lap walking around it to finish up my walk I only got 30 min. in today too much rain and busy with grandkids. Then to sears for lawn mower oil, and another lap around the store. Then to a 50’s style café and that was great!
We came home and I had no more excuse for not doing the laundry so I got that going, worked on the kitchen it took 2-3 days to dig out this week. Last week I was under the weather cold flu and I was down in the dumps, not doing much inside stuff, just mowing and gardening. Anything to avoid the kitchen and house work stuff IYKWIM! ( If You Know What I Mean!)

Dear hubby was getting ansty after two days rain because he had planned outdoor stuff to do. We cancelled mowing at the farm last weekend too much rain.

Wed.
Sunny finally! 73*
First ride of the season.
Lunch ride two bikes 108 mi.

This morning we ate breakfast on the boat in the driveway I’d made these yummy breakfast burritos with sausage with a kick, cream cheese & eggs. We discussed our options for the day. Motor cycling won out over camping. I went for a long walk after I put on my forest green “I survived Hell’s Canyon 2004” tee shirt and later changed in to heavier camouflage pants. (The zipper in my chaps wore out last year.) We polished up the bikes after we ate breakfast on the boat while it was still in the driveway! Any break in our routine to set it apart from a regular day helps us to know it’s vacation! (I forgot sunscreen and forgot to put it on!)

We have the bug to go biking after talking about the bikes trips in the blogs. I’ve been entering we discussed some of the fun trips we have been on made us really want to get out the wild blue yonder was calling us.

Today was my first ride of the season! Even thou I’ve been walking/hiking to get and or stay in shape 2.5 mi. or 45 min. a day on steep terrain I was still a bit stiff and sore after the ride and exhausted. I forgot how my throttle hand can sort of cramp up on long trips. Now that I’ve mostly cut out sugar I can go longer between pee breaks but my backside was still complaining! LOL!

We went up by Troy, Oregon and I remembered one time I rode behind dh for a mom’s day ride and we saw 14 head of mountain sheep. That was great. We did not see any game today that was kind of unusual.

I found a picture on the web. Of this rafting trip this is where there is a road beside the river. We have floated on rafts before dh almost drowned after a spill in a small rapids so we have a healthy respect for the rivers around here. (The guys vetoed getting a raft to add to our toy collection.)

We stopped for lunch and had burgers delicious. We saw two groups of others on bike solo loaded up with gear tents sleeping bags no trailer.
Dear hubby said I did good for a first time out coming home, keeping up with him in the corners up the grade. I took it pretty easy on the way over because it was my first trip of the year.

We ate at Bogan’s Oasis and had lunch, the guy said “have fun kids” when we left, we have not been called kids in a long time that made us both grin! There were not as many rocks on the corners as we though there would be, because of the rains we had yesterday.

When we came back to our local area and went up the river on the road 10 miles up above Asotin it’s called ten mile by the locals it’s 10 miles back. The river was way high and scary looking to me. Dear hubby was dreaming of fishing, so we came home fueled up and got our fishing licenses renewed for this year. Changd rigs before we went back to the pond to get our hooks wet because we have so much stuff to take with us, it’s hard to haul a lawn chair on a motor cycle. Lol! =D The boat holds a lot more gear than a bike will!

The weather was awesome today I got a bit of a sun wind burnt on my face and hands. When I got home I had to be sure and get enough water.
Dear hubby said, “Now I feel like I’m on vacation” when we got back.

We stopped at the park in Asotin to rest and take a bit of a break.
It is always good to get the first tank of fuel through the bikes in the spring and put fresh gas in them they run SO much better! After some fishing I lost my hook and was able to get some journaling done. Dear hubby caught two squaw fish. We came home and I “pretended” to b.b.q. by burning steaks on the stove in the kitchen. We are winding down it’s 10:00 here now not much is open during the week here at this time of day other than a movie.

Thurs.
73* & Sunny!
I cut dh's hair. Dear hubby & dear son took the boat out in the afternoon. Dear son manned the net while dh caught his limit (the most) and biggest fish bass mostly. Dear hubby got a sunburn on the back of his legs great true red necks here today this time from fun not work.

I mowed the back front and side yard I can't believe it's been a week already! I transplanted some grass in to some bare spots, the seeds did not make it I do better with plants and pulled some weeds.

My favorite quote this week is ~
I have yet to have a whole day go the way I have planned!
Joyce Meyer

Fri. 80* and sunny

I went to the thrift shop found a journal jar and got a couple of books Messie No More by Sandra Felton I've read some of her books before but they were libray copies I'm SO excited to have my own copy of this one!

My favorite finds today from the thrift shop were…

And Joshua and the Children I've read the other Joshua books and enjoyed them. I'm trying to read more. Also a set of country mice videos for grand kids to enjoy, and some Christmas fabric for holiday sewing. Went to our favote taco stand for lunch. Dd (dear daughter) and dgson (dear grand son) came by for a while in the afternoon, that was great.

Made up a note book with Jan. - Dec. dividers and paper in it like charts teachers use for attendance and I cut them to size and punched holes in them it will be great for chores, hobbies, I think this one will be fore writing projects. Writing seems to be on the front burner these days.

Graduation & Party

A graduation & party in the evening. Great news dson is done with his two years of core classes and got a degree he did not walk with the other graduates but his name was in the program. Proud mom moment for me!
His fiancé did get her four year degree cap and gown and whole works in the new building that holds four thousand it was full. It was a two hour event. The pastor’s daughter did the best job of singing the national anthem of any one that’s sang for a graduation one person said.

Then one of the gals at her son's fiance's work did a nice party out side in the yard, white holiday lights on the fence helped us to find the place, with candles, finger sandwiches and a cream cheese with veggie pizza.

Today another graduation Party at the park for more friends with boat in the afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder are in the forecast and it is raining out now slightly, boating may be cancelled an aluminum boat on the water during a thunder storm. We may be staying under the gazabo. It's a pot luck event so I'll be getting ready for that this morning. Did not happen rain cancelled this event.
