Grand kids can run and play in the fields,
See the mountains, and fish in the creek.
Camping, upkeep of the very old riding mower to get it up and running for the season sharpening mower blades and other seasonal stuff will be happening B.B.Q. etc. I rode my motor cycle yesterday it was great.
I may consider driving it up to the farm that's a fun ride!
Mom wrote and said her sister had called
Her to help to clean the cemetery
Others in the church went too family members
and they had a church pot luck.
I have the answer to her letter in the mail box this morning.

Struggles
I’ve been writing about weddings and this brings to mind my sis’s funeral she complete suicide a number of years ago, she used a gun a 22 to the temple. That was a devastating time, she had a rough year lost three jobs, and three relationships and could not get on with her life, she was about to graduate collage. I guess she could not get through the next part of her life. She was getting professional help not on meds. I’ve always wondered if that might have helped.
Processing anger and not repressing it, getting the stuff out of your life that holds you back is helpful. I made a list of 100 things of things to do when I was angry that helped. Exercise helps, walking is great therapy, and gardening has been so good to help me sort out all the questions and process this.
Last week I was doing some journal prompts and thinking about when I was younger stirred this up. I remembered what a struggle grade school was for me on a number of fronts. I need to get some prompts of my favorite times when I was young.
Thinking back on school I struggled with dyslexia and that helped me to understand one of my lift goals to make learning fun.

Free day
Today is my free day no house work, I do my artists date, shop play and have fun. I’ve been making a conscious effort to slow down and savor my days off. No granny duty or car pool, I do not have to rush home my noon, and I can brose at the library, and the book shelves, and thrift shops.
I’ve been trying to spoil me, an extra cup of coffee in the mornings and a little more time playing on the net. Today was extra special because I’ve gotten chores nearly caught up and I did not have to work in the yard. I did get two coleus plants one for inside and one for outside.
I got some fabric one in a holiday print, and the other piece a fun sun bonnet Sue print, also some paints for crafts. I can’t wait to use these new supplies. I got a bag of lace at the thrift shop it’s great fun to trip the fabric gift bags with lace and ribbons.

I’m so excited I found a pie rack, I just need to get plates to put on it,
We can use it for parties receptions, tea parties, and more. I put up the link because it’s fun to cut finger sandwiches in shapes!
I found a footed bowl too it’s plastic but looks like glass, I don’t have to worry about breaking this one and it could be disposable if needed. I put the tomatoes in this for a bright spot on the kitchen counter.
I have used the pink paint, I’ve been painting tea trays to use for transporting and holding stuff at the wedding reception. I have a lavender one done already, and I’ll do a white one later but I need to get some more white paint. Painting is fun and relaxing for me. I also painted a small peg rack to go in the play house too. = D I love finding small things to go in it. The grand kids love it!

Getting Ready for a Wedding
This week night dson & his wife-to-be were impressed with the collection of bells, bows, netting, tulle, decorations that I’ve been collecting. I organized it as I put it away after showing them what I had. They checked on the reception place to rent at the beach for their wedding reception next June. Their first pre-marriage counseling meeting was this week also. I got some names and addresses together for invitations as they requested.
I need to get m.o.g. (Mother Of the Groom) dress. But I’m not sure on the color yet so that will wait. They have made a change from using a unity candle to sand.
It’s not a good week for riding my motor cycle with the rain here which reminds me as I typing this up one of the first motor cycle rallies we went to was a wedding and a reception! I used to work with the groom. I mentioned that they might have a wake boarding theme, we are going to have our camper at the beach why not the boat skis wake boards etc. for entertainment.
I’ve been able to catching two West Wing eposides I had missed. They had tux. White ties and vests in interesting look for some state holiday dinner. Wondering if they will have tuxes or not at this point there are still a lot of decisions to be made.
Pre-School is out for the year for preschool now, the party is today. Our little grand-darlings will be flower girls. I got an idea for the baskets. So I’m excited to try it out. Putting Styrofoam cone in the baskets to use as a stabilizer for support.

Getting Ready for Camping & Family Bike Ride
As I get a blog entry ready I can use a few min. of quietude and I'm enjoying doing this! I got the mowing done today, Dh (dear hubby) said that there were logs, and whole trees floating down the river, and could not believe he saw five boats out in the river with all that junk floating in it. That’s where driftwood originates the mountains! I never thought about that much before the floods in the last few years.
Car pool ½ by me ½ done by dear son. #1 dgd (dear grand daughter) can read Dr. Seuss books now, and tell time. I had some granny duty so dear son could load up his camper.
There was a cow in a stock truck down the street, so the grandkids had a look see, This red cow a white faced herford was like they used to raise grand champions back in the day at the farm when dh was a child. Dgd was wanting to know how they hauled horses, I told her a one ton stock (duel tires) truck with racks, she did not know what that was. Then this truck showed up so now she does. It’s left now. Dear hubby had to call his uncle on the Washington farm, and they had a good visit in the evening, he has been doing summer following it’s all plowing to me! Lol (laught out loud). (My family were loggers.)
I mowed the neighbors front yard again, she said not to try to tackle the back, She was going to hire some one to weed whack it, their mower is in the shop.
We had a she snafu this week, #1 dgd is in pm kindergarten, they had a field trip in the morning, and we spaced it. We do pretty good on the regular stuff, once in a while something new is added into the mix and it can really throw us.
Dear daughter said she and dear grand son would join us for a family bike ride! We are looking forward to that! Soon as these rains end we will begin to really enjoy more of our favorite outdoor activies. Thier chickens have a new pen and seem to be thriving, they got four of them as chicks this spring.

Weekend Projects Boat Curtians & More Fishing
I sorted out some fabric and got that organized, it made quite a difference just doing a 15 min. of that. I trimmed some off for projects when I start sewing doing up gifts for the holiday season.
Sun.
Dear hubby hung up a mirror for dgds to use in combing thier hair and getting ready for school in thier bedroom.
I spent some time this weekend weeding the flower beds next to the house and filled up a trash can of weeds. Then we went to the bass hole, dh did some fishing, I took a bag with my purse, planner, book and a journal, lawn chair, umbrella, water, camera phone etc. and I'm calling this my portable office now! I enjoyed some relaxing time while dh fished before we headed home. Dear hubby caught three fish before a big black rain cloud came in so we left before it put down some serious rain after we got home. Link on the top of this page to see more fun on the boat pics!

Vacation 5-05
I’m reading Paradise Park a little bit heaver reading than I wanted for
vacation. I finished reading The Passionate Church by Mike Breen and
Walt Kallestad.
It rained we were going to go to the farm and mow, get a room at a place we like to stay but rain cancelled, we were going to go to the mall and a craft fair but it rained last weekend too. I was pretty bummed about that! I did get some plants and was able to plant two more rose bushes some pinks lavender. Watched dh’s new fishing camping hunting video. I finishes reading a book the passionate church over the weekend. I mowed between rain storms. Long story I do the mowing here after the family joke became okay dad which one of mom’s plants did you mow off this week! I did not think it was funny at the time. I have mowed off a few of my plants, but at least I can tell which ones are weeds!
We watched dh's new fishing hunting camping video.
Mon. More rain. Boat is in and out of the shop for minor repairs. Dear hubby did honey do's and both the budgets for the farm home, got the outside Christmas lights down. For me is was granny duty, car pool and regular stuff around here, except we went out for dinner with our dson (dear son) and his girls, belated mom’s day I did not want to fight the crowds on Sun. dson had finals this week so he brought some studying with him. We had rented a movie we had wanted to see at the movie house the DVD “National Treasure” and we really enjoyed it.
Tues. Rain rain and more rain. Flood warnings out!
Half a day of granny duty, dear hubby did half of the car pool. We made a date out of going over town to get laundry soap, first a mart stop I did a lap walking around it to finish up my walk I only got 30 min. in today too much rain and busy with grandkids. Then to sears for lawn mower oil, and another lap around the store. Then to a 50’s style cafĂ© and that was great!
We came home and I had no more excuse for not doing the laundry so I got that going, worked on the kitchen it took 2-3 days to dig out this week. Last week I was under the weather cold flu and I was down in the dumps, not doing much inside stuff, just mowing and gardening. Anything to avoid the kitchen and house work stuff IYKWIM! ( If You Know What I Mean!)
Dear hubby was getting ansty after two days rain because he had planned outdoor stuff to do. We cancelled mowing at the farm last weekend too much rain.
Wed. Sunny finally! 73*
First ride of the season.
Lunch ride two bikes 108 mi.
This morning we ate breakfast on the boat in the driveway I’d made these yummy breakfast burritos with sausage with a kick, cream cheese & eggs. We discussed our options for the day. Motor cycling won out over camping. I went for a long walk after I put on my forest green “I survived Hell’s Canyon 2004” tee shirt and later changed in to heavier camouflage pants. (The zipper in my chaps wore out last year.) We polished up the bikes after we ate breakfast on the boat while it was still in the driveway! Any break in our routine to set it apart from a regular day helps us to know it’s vacation! (I forgot sunscreen and forgot to put it on!)
We have the bug to go biking after talking about the bikes trips in the blogs. I’ve been entering we discussed some of the fun trips we have been on made us really want to get out the wild blue yonder was calling us.
Today was my first ride of the season! Even thou I’ve been walking/hiking to get and or stay in shape 2.5 mi. or 45 min. a day on steep terrain I was still a bit stiff and sore after the ride and exhausted. I forgot how my throttle hand can sort of cramp up on long trips. Now that I’ve mostly cut out sugar I can go longer between pee breaks but my backside was still complaining! LOL!
We went up by Troy, Oregon and I remembered one time I rode behind dh for a mom’s day ride and we saw 14 head of mountain sheep. That was great. We did not see any game today that was kind of unusual.
I found a picture on the web. Of this rafting trip this is where there is a road beside the river. We have floated on rafts before dh almost drowned after a spill in a small rapids so we have a healthy respect for the rivers around here. (The guys vetoed getting a raft to add to our toy collection.)
We stopped for lunch and had burgers delicious. We saw two groups of others on bike solo loaded up with gear tents sleeping bags no trailer.
Dear hubby said I did good for a first time out coming home, keeping up with him in the corners up the grade. I took it pretty easy on the way over because it was my first trip of the year.
We ate at Bogan’s Oasis and had lunch, the guy said “have fun kids” when we left, we have not been called kids in a long time that made us both grin! There were not as many rocks on the corners as we though there would be, because of the rains we had yesterday.
When we came back to our local area and went up the river on the road 10 miles up above Asotin it’s called ten mile by the locals it’s 10 miles back. The river was way high and scary looking to me. Dear hubby was dreaming of fishing, so we came home fueled up and got our fishing licenses renewed for this year. Changd rigs before we went back to the pond to get our hooks wet because we have so much stuff to take with us, it’s hard to haul a lawn chair on a motor cycle. Lol! =D The boat holds a lot more gear than a bike will!
The weather was awesome today I got a bit of a sun wind burnt on my face and hands. When I got home I had to be sure and get enough water.
Dear hubby said, “Now I feel like I’m on vacation” when we got back.
We stopped at the park in Asotin to rest and take a bit of a break.
It is always good to get the first tank of fuel through the bikes in the spring and put fresh gas in them they run SO much better! After some fishing I lost my hook and was able to get some journaling done. Dear hubby caught two squaw fish. We came home and I “pretended” to b.b.q. by burning steaks on the stove in the kitchen. We are winding down it’s 10:00 here now not much is open during the week here at this time of day other than a movie.
Thurs. 73* & Sunny!
I cut dh's hair. Dear hubby & dear son took the boat out in the afternoon. Dear son manned the net while dh caught his limit (the most) and biggest fish bass mostly. Dear hubby got a sunburn on the back of his legs great true red necks here today this time from fun not work.
I mowed the back front and side yard I can't believe it's been a week already! I transplanted some grass in to some bare spots, the seeds did not make it I do better with plants and pulled some weeds.
My favorite quote this week is ~
I have yet to have a whole day go the way I have planned!
Joyce Meyer
Fri. 80* and sunny
I went to the thrift shop found a journal jar and got a couple of books Messie No More by Sandra Felton I've read some of her books before but they were libray copies I'm SO excited to have my own copy of this one!
My favorite finds today from the thrift shop were…
Journal jar

Book: Messie No More by Sandra Feldon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/080075302X/qid=1116024106/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/102-5603728-2078501
And Joshua and the Children I've read the other Joshua books and enjoyed them. I'm trying to read more. Also a set of country mice videos for grand kids to enjoy, and some Christmas fabric for holiday sewing. Went to our favote taco stand for lunch. Dd (dear daughter) and dgson (dear grand son) came by for a while in the afternoon, that was great.
Made up a note book with Jan. - Dec. dividers and paper in it like charts teachers use for attendance and I cut them to size and punched holes in them it will be great for chores, hobbies, I think this one will be fore writing projects. Writing seems to be on the front burner these days.
Graduation & Party
A graduation & party in the evening. Great news dson is done with his two years of core classes and got a degree he did not walk with the other graduates but his name was in the program. Proud mom moment for me!
His fiancĂ© did get her four year degree cap and gown and whole works in the new building that holds four thousand it was full. It was a two hour event. The pastor’s daughter did the best job of singing the national anthem of any one that’s sang for a graduation one person said.
Then one of the gals at her son's fiance's work did a nice party out side in the yard, white holiday lights on the fence helped us to find the place, with candles, finger sandwiches and a cream cheese with veggie pizza.
Today another graduation Party at the park for more friends with boat in the afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder are in the forecast and it is raining out now slightly, boating may be cancelled an aluminum boat on the water during a thunder storm. We may be staying under the gazabo. It's a pot luck event so I'll be getting ready for that this morning. Did not happen rain cancelled this event.

Biker blog 30 Holidays & Wrap up
11-27-98 Hopes and Dreams
We went to a the motor cycle shop it is difficult this time of year. Because we can't ride much I’ve almost decide on a Nomad for a new machine. I need one at some point. A new goal we have been dreaming about is to go to Alaska on bikes some time and mine will need a fuel supply larger than I’ve got now. So one other option is a bigger custom tank. I’d love one with out a chrome fuel cap because it reflects back into your eyes as you travel on long trips on sunny days it is not fun at mid day to have that glare in your eyes as you travel on long trips and cause you aches and eye troubles if you wear specks!
Sat. 12-5-98 Toys For Tots Ride
Dh went to the toys for tots ride today. I was under the weather and it was too cold for me to go to it and I sent my toys with dh he was the only one on a Kawasaki voyager there, one other dirt bike and the rest were all Harleys he was excited to do that he got a late start he thought he had missed it. So that was awesome to see his enthusiasm!
12-12-98 GWRRA Christmas party
It was wonderful we had excellent and was awesome food. Fun, friends and fellowship. We chatted has some laughs and exchanged gifts and gave for a needy family it was wonderful to give back to the community. Every one seemed to have a really good time.
The gals decided not to do the secret sisters for next year. I think that is good because it seems on drops out and someone is with out a gift each year. So that was a relief some one always seems to get hurt feeling over it. The door prizes were fun this year they were wrapped.
12-15-98 GSV Christmas party
The G.S.V. Gem State Voyagers had their Christmas party in a member's home.Turkey and all the trimmings pot luck style awesome food some mighty good cooks. We had a white elephant gift exchange and that was a riot. Especially when a couple of the guys got girls gifts they milked it for all it was worth. It was hilarious! We laughed until we cried. They had parts of a video of some of the rallies and trips before and a couple of games we leave early we felt fortunate to be able to go.
12-22-98 Season Winds Down
Now with zero temps the batteries are out of the bikes and tucked safely in the basement we are awaiting summer riding season, planning rides trips and jaunts in our calendars. Planners come out in Nov. So we get the vacation schedule dates set; kick around a few ideas for places we want to go. Where we have not been, and where we want to go back too. This has been a great year and much fun time and time again we look back over the fun we have had, it’s awesome to remember the fun days laugh and enjoy the memories.
12-28-98 dh is my passenger
I drove my motor cycle to charge up my battery with dh as my passenger. We went to the Yamaha shop in town. To get oil for his virago, so he could change oil for his virago, so he could change the oil in it. It is due, they did not have the filter for it so I have to go back next week to pick it up when ever they came in.
It was actually pretty warm for December between 40* - 50* so we rode around town it was brisk even with my leathers on. It’s great to fight off the after Christmas let down, the fresh air and outing on the bike gave us a while new perspective. He picked up a brochure on the new 99 line of Yamahas and spend the next two days studying it. I hardly got a peek at it.
When I did crossed them off my wish due to the wire spoke wheels! So I was done with in about two seconds flat! Look out Nomad here I come! =D We’ve gotta get to the other cycle shop in town and see if they have that one put thought or not jet.
I have not gotten used to the retro 50’s look on the bikes yet. I still love all the chrome and cruiser style bikes. But change is inevitable for us. Mine rides better with a passenger; or a load. I am however excited to see how the mono shock handles and feels. I hope the lean angles are as good as mine so I do not have to worry about scraping in the corners like on dh’s touring bike I hate that sound! ;D My partner always razzes me about the sparks flying off the voyager in the corners!
12-30-98 Solo ride 20 mi.
I discovered the battery had not been removed one of the little "accidentally on purpose" oversights, well it was sunny and pushing 50* degrees outside so I had to get out on it I putzed around town to get some fresh air in me and charged up the battery. Twenty miles and nearly and hour later the temps started to dip again as the sun went below the horizon and I headed for home after fuel stop I was two other bikes out doing the same thing. It was great. Oh, I do love this sport is it summer yet?
That’s the end of this journal:
I will make a note here that the saddest day was when a couple died in a wreck they were hit by on coming traffic passing in their lane returning from a cross country trip on thier bike they were active in one of the groups we were in.
The best day I had was when we found me a bike a Kawasaki Vulcan 1,500 c.c. classic retro style bike that worked wonderfully for me for several years then we sold it after we bought a jet boat and bought a camper.
Our interests have changed now and we do not ride as much now granny needs a sidecar for the grandkids lol!

10-18-98 Dinner ride
We took the virago’s out and went to one of our favorite fish places for dinner. It was too a lot of fun too. We enjoyed getting the bikes out it was 60* in the shade great weather for this time of the year.
Then we came home and rode two up (both on one bike) on his machine it was get to sue the intercom systems. We rode on the bypass that they reopened up. We went to the orchards down the main drag and home the back way by dh’s work and then up the outskirts of town and came own home. What a delight to get out in the fresh air and having a on a beautiful sunny day it was warm too!
10-19-98 Old Spiral Highway
Dh got off early so he was able to ride his big bike the Kawasaki up to the top of the old grade. It was a beautiful Indian summer day we are having an awesome fall here this year. He came back smiling and happy as a clam! Took the battery out it’s getting cold enough at night to drain the power down in them now.
We need to get a battery maintainer maybe more than one. I can’t believe we are still enjoying riding out bikes this late in the year. He put some fix-a-flat stuff in the front tire of his virago it keeps loosing air.
Solo ride 20 mi.
I rode my bike out to the cam ground and cruised through. Saw a tent set up It was great. Absolutely awesome weather more late fall with summer like temps. Clear blue skies and lots of fun in the usn for me.
I stopped a couple of times and got some rocks and put them in my saddlebags and hauled them home for a path I’m building in my garden. After I unloaded them I got some gas and pop at the store. What a gift this day ways! Wow! My spirit is celebrating today! I had such an awesome time. =D
10-20-98 Tooling Around Town 30 min. ride
I rode dhs’ virago, I was going to go to a meeting but id would barely start so I had to keep it running. It was really and brisk outside. So I rode along in residential streets going slow checking some mileage distance routes that I walk. Then I went to town and located a new 2nd hand shop I’d wanted to find. It’s a beautiful to drive by the river here. The fall color is absolutely fabulous. I came home and shut the bike off after 30 min. of tooling around town to see if it would restart and it did so then I buzzed on over to the sore and fueled it up it was refreshing and a great ride today!
Biker blog 28 Meetings and Ride

Motor cycle meeting GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Assoc.)
We went to a motor cycle meeting this morning . I drove my bike dh was my passenger. (He did not want to get his bike dirty.) It had rained and the roads were pretty wet. My bike was the only one there! They discussed a new CD (Chapter director); two rally ideas for next year, some ride possibilities, fun meeting things Christmas party, food baskets for the needy, today’s ride, teddy bear run for kids in crisis, old meeting news and notes, new meetings, dinner rides, picnic rides, brown bag lunch ride, drawings, prizes, a 50/50 drawing, this was a breakfast meeting. And a small turn out for attendance.
Publicity was also discussed a conflict with the the rally in
Vancouver and hot august nights was brought up too. I showed them this motor cycle journal I’m Typing from, and the dish cloths I do. I heard about a woman motor cycler doing a book. Hear me roar book, I think was the title. That came in an e-mail of one of the members not in attendance.
It was cold on the way home we drove by the river. I was driving again and decided to head out the other way and come home the long way home, there was road kill a skunk that part was not fun. It was a good other than that. The road had dried off in places on the main road. We discussed double clutching on my bike on the way home. I do that sometimes but not every time. He said I was a good driver people said I was nuts to get my bike to on a day like this He said I got and A for a grade on my driving. =D
Sun. 10-11-98 Last AVA (American Voyagers Assoc.) Meeting
After breakfast that I cooked we went to the AVA meeting GSV Gem State Voyaged. They are folding the club it was struggling to survive so they just let it die. Decided to do a friendship roster and still ride and do campouts and picnics if we want next year. Do on last Christmas parts on Tues. we won’t be able to do that. And donate what’s left in the treasurey to the d.a.r.e. program. It was hard, and sad but time to let go and move on. A good way to get closure on this for us. Buck & I rode both of our bikes up there.
Then we rode on out to the Y in the rode towards lower Granite dam. It was nice helped to get some fresh air and to shake off the gloom of that meeting. We have been in two clubs that have died now. We are still doing what we love riding.
Riding our bikes taking trips and having fun. We have learned clubs, groups and organizations can be a whole heck of a lot of work that is one thing we know. There is a "women on wheels" meeting next weekend. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it. They have a roving chapter. I went to one of their meetings when it was here. They were camped out at the camp ground. There are a positive bunch of gals. I really liked that about them. It’s good to see them here!
10-12-98 Ride 40 miles.
I drove up on top past the farm of some people I know on Dh’s virago to charge up the battery. It was 60* in the shade so a good day to do that
awesome weather for October! I was so good to see the trees on the horizon and then close up as I got to the turn around the point near the forest.
The fields were plowed, the winter wheat had sprouted and everything was green. Some fields were blackened form stubble burns.
I saw two ravens soaring in the air, a hawk or an eagle, smelled something dead beside the road. When I drive on my bike, or his, it always helps me to come back with a better perspective on life. If I have tough emotional issued I’m dealing with I can think them through as I drive. It helps me to put thing back into perspective as I am in nature’s awesome surroundings.
It helps me to get the fresh air into my lungs too and that in my blood stream helps also. I can blow out the toxins and a bad attitude to if I need too. =D My kind of therapy!
Biker blog 27 Fall rides
Sun. 10-4-98 two bikes
We rode both of the bikes on the other side of the river to charge up the batteries in them. We rode to the fishing pond with cat tails were there is a fork in the road and turned about and came back. We wore our leather it was cool enough to need it.
I fueled up the bike on the way back, got some movies to watch and I rode dh’s bike back home form there it was fun really different we both enjoyed that. It was good to get out on them. It feels like fall now though. Time to think about their winter wax jobs and storing the batteries too.
Mon. 10-5-98 One bike solo ride
I took dhs’ virago out to the same place we went yesterday to charge up the battery in it. It was really had to get it started ~ almost idn’t. It had sat too long, and it’s getting cold out too. It was warmer today and awesome weather! Lovely really made my spirit soar. =D
I saw a guy on the nomad I wanted heading out on my way back, in to town tow other were also enjoying this nice weather today on their motor cycles!
10-06-98 28 mi.
I rode my bike out past the park to Wilson banner ranch and turned around took some books back to the collage and returned them to the library there. Some students were outside on recognized me know my kids!
I had my chaps on and a bug on my face from the ride. =D I paid a bill too. It was a good ride. Nice and warm the sun was out it was wonderful! My neighbor who had to Harley’s a shovel head and a new heritage and I were chatting over the fence. He told me I earned a lot of respect when I was out on my motor cycle so soon after I got it. That was a moment to savor for me, and to embrace!
Understanding that others admire and respect me and what I have done and what I am doing a gal at the fuel pump was commenting about wishing she had the nerve to ride and she said I looks good on my bike!
There were a couple of truck drivers when I fueled up and I hared one says there’s what gene we need a bile like that and he pointed to mine.
I know others have envied my adventures, the freedom and the excitement. I’m seeing that as a positive thing now as respect. Strange now this realization is coming a little after the fact I’ve been riding six years.
I remember a conversation with another gal that drives her own bike too. She went on vacation with her daughter for a week on her bike last summer. They were gone ten days.
The gals that don’t drive their own bike are unaware of some things, like when I was following another bike I noticed him double shifting, (down shifting), I knew he would be slowing down before he applied the breaks.
I’ve had some awesome discussions with other bikers too. It’s an awesome camaraderie we have among us.
28,000 miles I went to the other library this afternoon and it ws 71* at 5:00 so much have been 80*, I was in my shirt sleeves, rode on up on top of the prairie to get the zeros to roll over. What a beautiful day and exhilarating feeling! WOW! How awesome is this or what!

Biker blog 26 Wallowa Lake Ore.
Wallowa Lake, Ore. 200 mi. 2 bikes
We saw 12 deer at lest it was a wonderful day, clear blue skies you could see for ever we had been tying to get there all summer and we finally made it! We saw three deer in the field on top before the first stop at fields springs 25 min. from home. After a breakfast of biscuits and gravy made from scratch at home it seemed to be a perfect day for a ride. We discussed our plans.
Up and over the rattle snake grade, named so because of it’s numerous switch backs, had a lot of rocks and rather big ones on one turn near the top, and some loose pea gravel an most of the rest of them, it kept us on the alert watching out for that and on bufferd grade too. I wore my leather coat sand chaps it was cool enough need it, until we dropped off the pass before Enterprise, Ore.
There are wide open expanses and you can see the whole area in places it was wonderful! I love smelling the pine trees in the national forests we drive through! The old homes and things we sees along the way make me feel connected to our ancestors that pioneered and had adventure-some spirits like we do. Not to many of the trees have turned their fall color yet we noticed. It’s great having the c.b. so we can communicate, like when a deer decided to cross in front of us. We love to dream of building a cabin and discuss possible properties we see along the way.
The views of the mountains are spectacularly breathtaking and we always enjoy that. We forgot our camera this trip so we will have to go back again next year. In Enterpise I spotted a new shop we had to turn around for and go back to, it was closed Uncommon Thread a fiber shop with quilting fabrics, and other art gallery with rustic furniture and open next door with sculpture bronzes for the foundry, yet another reason to return.
It’s only open Mon. - Fri. a fun place to tour someday.
On through town, we went to the next town Joseph, Ore. more awesome shops, museums, galleries, the place has exploded in growth and the tourists have swelled the population today greatly as there is an alpine fest – with a German theme going on this weekend.
It’s hard not to stop but it’s well past lunch and our sandwiches are calling. We brought a picnic lunch to eat at the park. The view of the lake is awesome as we drive in ~ Absolutely breathtaking with the spectacular and majestic mountains in the background. We’re excited and exhilarated after our ride.
We see two old deer in the park old and getting round slow, waiting for handouts to be fed right under a “Keep wild life wild sign”! =D Nobody takes the time to stop and read the sign and they ignore it as they pet these tame granddaddy deer. As we eat our lunch we realize how cool and fall like the weather had gotten. The recent rains have made things lush and green again, and snow is on the tops of the mountains towering over us.
After lunch we go to check out the fishing tackle shop and the boat launch. It is closed for the season. We see six other bikes cruise through.
We drive over the creek bridge, the water is low it is normally loud with rushing waters, some times we seen red salmon spawning in it. But none today and the lake and stream are both low and we head to the tea shop I call it. I get a new journal and some new music dh get to listen to it first on his bike. (No music player on mine.)
Dh gathers literature for various cabins to read, I enjoy craft booths of vendors selling their wares all kinds of hand made items, in this open air craft fair is fun a lot of the people I recognize from previous visits and labor day celebrations, spring craft fairs and dogwood festivals at home and some are new.
Germen polka music is playing in the old rustic hall, people in costumes are playing music and dancing to add to the ethnic flavor of this event. It is wonderful. It’s time to go the day has flown by to fast.
I’ve put 111 mi. on my bike. I need fuel as we head out of the park, we see two more young spike deer tame, one has a card board paper roll on it’s antlers some on walks right up to it and removes the toilet paper roll. We see two more deer walking through the lawn of a home grazing like nothing else is happening.
We will be back, one year we were down there or four times. Back to town , I try not to look at the yard sale ha! Past the perfect for a KOA property for sale. To town to fuel up and through the road construction it is done for the day just like I thought they would be. It is unusual to run in to it on Sunday they were doing a street in town.
No center stripe for 36 mi. but good roads. It is such a joy to make this trip, we make the bikes dance around the twisties up and down the two grades coming home and buzz gleefully on the strait parts nonstop pure bliss 85 miles back home. We order a pizza and I dash off for some more fuel for the next trip that awaits us. See you then!
Biker blog 25 Field's Spring Ride
9-14-98
We went to a voyager meeting yesterday it was pretty low key not very many in attendance we went to the park, there were five bikes there and six people. I was the only gal on her own bike. =D
We have an awesome day for it. Rode up to the orchards first to met together and rode out to Chief Timothy park for a picnic ride. The discussed tomes yucky experiences the had with 1%rs bad boy bikers and possibilities for future rides, after we ate our lunches.
9-15-98
Yesterday I took my motor cycle out, did some shopping. I went to the garden shop they did not have the bulbs I wanted. I drove right on past the antique store a different day when I got some groceries on the bike. I did go to the antique store today and got some goodies at the dollar store a plaque with a prayer on it, candles and mints. I drove back home by the river it was gorgeous, a hot day 95* made me sweat under my helmet when my bike was not in motion. Stopped and paid a bill, and went to the library to use the net and found a neat site for spinners. Then I rode on home past where they are building a new house.
9-19-98
We went to the motor cycle shop to see the green Nomad I was wanting but it had been sold. =(
9-20-98
We went on a 58 mile ride to Field’s Spring today. It was beautiful in the mountains and you can see. It really helped to get the cobwebs out of my brain! Cool enough I had to wear my chaps. Sure feels like fall in the air now. It was a gorgeous day for a ride too. We live in a place that has awesome scenery only 20 min. from home with a great road with lots of curves road to climb to see it! We saw two deer two. What a great day! It was like a gift.
9-23-98
Yesterday I did some errands on my motor cycle. I went to the store to pick up a few items. Rented a movie too it was fun to be on my bike again.
It’s cool and crisp now in the morning and feels just like fall. I did some window shopping too. It seemed interesting to do that on the bike because I knew I did not have much room. The weather was beautiful, a clear blue sky; the air was clean and you could see for every it seemed. Now haze! I love day like that. It was awesome to drive by the river to clear my head!
Dh rode his virago to clear out some cobwebs too. I way home & let him have a bit of space. It was time. He rode up to the top of the Asotin grade. Wed. it rained Thurs. Feeling more like fall.
Had to cancel a trip this weekend couldn’t get a room. We’re going to Wallowa Lake, Ore. It just did not work out. Kids were supposed to come too but they could not. Scheduling conflicts. Such is life. The riding season is defiantly winding down now. Which is sad, but it’s cooler and not nearly as much fun we have to leave later in the mornings.
Biker Blog 24 Motor Cycle Meeting
We went to the gold wing motor cycle meeting, I had fun. I won the door prize some potpourri with a doily over a jar. I took a pampering gift basket to auction off for ht brown bag raffle. I put some neat stuff in it, a current woman’s magazine a bath beads to use while you watch the candle burn that was also in it, a bath washing cloth I had knitted, some tea bags, a note card, a nice dish I’d found antiquing to hold the candle, and a blank lined journal to write out your thoughts. The gals went nuts bidding over the brown bag when they hound a out it was one for e women. I volunteered to do some publicity, IE: adds for the local TV and radio stations and news paper. We had breakfast and they discussed the up coming show-n-shine, conflict with the days of the camp out and three rives, and some runs and rallies members had attended.
A run next spring on Fathers day, and other business. One of the gals is opening up a craft shop wants me to teach spinning and weaving lessons. So it was exciting for me with some new things fun, fun, fun!
We drove both of our bikes to the local A&W for dinner this evening to warm them up for an oil change from the trip. Mine now has 27,600 miles on it. I’m out chatting with dh now while he changes oil. I’m watching an owl in the tree that has taken up residence here sense we went on vacation and I turned on the fountain in the back too. It’s a wonderful nice and peaceful meeting place for spiritual inner connectedness. I’m still trying to get caught up on the house work after vacations but have not let it worry me excessively. The ride home from dinner was fun came the long way by the river it was beautiful! We live in a beautiful place here too. Drove by the motor cycle and antique shops on the way home but they were both closed. I got an accessories catalogue for my bike when I got oil for it on Fri. it’s fun to look and to dream.

Biker blog 23 stump jumpin' and other trips
9-8-98
Today I rode dh's virago up on top to Peola, up on the prairie where there are lots of wide open spaces and farmers fields, and out to the park Chief Timothy to charge up the battery. I also did some errands on it while I was out and about, went to the bank, paid a principle only to decrease payment, we are getting close to getting the house paid off can’t wait for that! Then dropped off our film from vacation, went to the two antique shops on main street, and then yarn craft shop. Go some new colors of yard to work up! =D They are neat. I found a rectangular crocheted piece at one of the antique shops to.
I went to the motor cycle shops too, the bike a nomad I want to try next was still there water cooled has a bigger fuel tank. I love the green one! Don’t like hard saddle bags however. I got oil and filters, and they had a speedo cable in stock so I got that too for dh’s bike. He had 15,555.5 miles on his bike that trip I rode 37 miles just bombing around town it was a blast.
I had to come home and get the car for the food no room left the saddle bags ha! Our pictures from the trip turned out great! I also got a new journal and a set of colored pens treated myself or my birthday I’d been wanting them. I got a blue willow tea pot three piece place setting to go with my tea pot too! =D It reminded me of my grandma who thinks we are pedal biking! I gotta send her a photo!
My favorite motor cycle funny story is one that I call stump jumper. It’s one dh tells about when he was in high school with his buddies on trail 90 and 110 dirt bikes riding the trails. One of his buddies breaks down so they are towing him on it with a rope. It’s after dark and the moon is out, they are tooling along and going a good clip then the stop, but the tow-ee does not get stopped in time to see what’s happening. A big stump is in the trial and he hits is and goes ass over tea kettle, endo over end and he and the bike being towed both land in the brush.
One of my most fond motor cycle memories is when we were dating in high school and would ride on his 175 Honda four stoke Scrambler. We would go on picnics up in the woods and see deer and it was fun. We visited his uncle & aunt one time doing that.
My favorite lesson on motor cycle is when my bike brakes down I do the same thing my spouse does, I take it to the nearest shop to be fixed.
My favorite bike is the one I’m riding now my 1,100 Yamaha Virago I’m wishing it had a bigger fuel tank. That was my best Christmas when we were up in the mountains and got it, hauled it home in the pick up between Christmas and New Year’s.
When we got dh’s first virago 1,000 we got it from a friend in Spokane, it was rainy October weekend and he had to use the rain gear driving it home. It's a three hour trip by car, it was our first experience in a K.O.A. camping cabin that weekend those were very nice! The only draw back is the middle of the night trips to the bathrooms. Br-r those can be cold!
I was very surprised when a year and a half later I spotted a 1,100 Yamaha Virago at the shop for sale when I was down getting oil and couldn’t wait for dh to get home to tell him about it! He went down and checked it out, brought it home, I want to crawl on it for a ride and to passenger foot peg on one side was missing, so I skipped the passenger part and took it for a test drive. I found a couple of minor things that needed attention he had not noticed. He traded in his 1,000 for that one. That was a fun day. Now we have matching bikes!
We took the Virago’s on a Virago campout tenting it last fall and did not realize how spoiled I had been with the trailer until we went without it on a trip to a local camp ground!
Last fall was interesting first the clutch cable broke and then the new service repair man glued it, and didn’t order a new one and didn’t check and the bracket was broke too! It was down for nearly 3 weeks in awesome fall weather. (I rode dh’s.) Then the battery died on it, I got one only the new parts gal (the bosses wife) sold me one too big, it ended up fitting the Voyager, we just swapped the battery out of his virago for a while. Then the starter went out, this went on from Sept. until Jan. But the good new is it ran like a dream on our big trip and all the problems were not in summer and very close to home and people we know to work on it!
I’m averaging 5,000 mi. a year on my bike now. It had 13,500 mo. on it when we got it in 1994 and has 27,500 on in it now in 1996 we went to glacier Montana. With two bikes and a trailer with ice chest approximately 1,000 mile trip.
In 1997 we went to Yellowstone 1,476 miles with two bikes and a trailer and again to Glacier and Western Montana in 1998. 1,479 miles two times no trailer this time. After trading up from my 750 Virago, I love the larger fuel tank and only three pounds difference in dry weight ( with out fuel in it), and the read mono shock on the 1,100.
I’ve went to a women on wheels meeting they have a death wish speed freaks screaming on two lane roads. I don’t need tickets so I was in the rear. When I go my chaps when we first started they were too long so the leather we cut off of them dh glued on fasteners and the were my fork seal protector covers.
One of our favorite days was when we brought the Voyager 1200 c.c. dh & I took his bike in for a new tire on his 1986 Venture and come out with a new bike! We had been kicking the idea around for a couple of weeks.
Some of the other favorite funny stores are when we were sitting down by the camp fire relaxing in our new lawn chairs, and dh was leaning back tipping of if the front legs, the next thing I know the whole thing collapses. It is absolutely hilarious to see time sprawled and spread eagled out on the ground flopping like a fish out of water I could not stop laughing. Needless to say was he not so enamored with the whole situation. So we are in the market for some studier lawn chairs.
Another time we popped the air bed in the tent {read between the lines here wink}: anyway the next morning we woke up to a flat air mattress on the floor of the tent. We love Montana because of the open roads, trees and wildlife.

Biker Blog 22 Home
Clarkston 119 mi. 9-7-98 trip total 1479 mi.
We are home safe and sound, good running today, good weather cloudy so it is cooler when we got to the heights. It was sunny the whole way home until then. The bikes really ran great the whole way! =D It was cool in the morning that made it for nice running, traffic was light, Dh is working on his bike to the speedo cable replaces, it’s broke.
We got the bikes unloaded and a tub of laundry going of trip stuff. Neighbors are already asking how our trip was fabulous awesome fantastic wonderful are works I use to describe it! I washed ht windshield on my bike and cleaned the tank.
Our lodging averaged out to $35 per night for the camping cabins approximately. This was a few years ago so rates have increased I'm sure. We averaged $60 each day for food fuel and entertainment we were gone eleven days and ten nights 1,479 miles. All on dry roads! WOW! It waited until we were home to rain just like I prayed. It rained off and on the rest of the day after we got home starting in one hour after we got home.
Dh washed his virago. We are not sore from the trip at all, ready to go again but I need to do laundry first, I need two hours and I’ll be ready! =D Love this way of taking vacations.
Biker blog 21 Lowell, Id.
130 mi two bikes
We stopped in Lolo, Mt and had breakfast and got some hero sandwich to go for lunch. We decided to do a picnic. We stopped for a picnic lunch at wilderness gate way campground and picnic area we were in need of a break we stopped at Lolo pass and got some more pictures
We saw two bear on the way one black and one brown. The black bear was along the road, the brown bear was at the rest area in the garbage the dry conditions have made for slim foraging for bears. That and the fires have caused them to come out of the mountains where people are to see if they can get food. We took a nature hike there first and dh was able to get some pictures of it.
We arrived here at two o’clock lots of bikes were on the road today, group after group, it seemed every mile or two. We went for a nice ride two up on my bike dh drove one way and I drove the other. We drove up the Selway, River for a short ways to see how the berries were. There are better here. It was cool and nice. I saw a deer in the trees lying down.
We took a dip in the river, dh said there was a trail, what he didn’t say it was almost straight up and down and you had to be a mountain goat to use it! Any way we had a great swim very refreshing and an adventure getting back up the bank! I fell in and broke a blood vessel in by foot, the heel is all blue, doesn’t hurt but sure started me when I noticed it after my shower.
It’s nice to have a room with sheets tonight, and I don’t have to hike to the rest rooms in the middle of the night, or to the showers.
Today was hot traveling but there was rain forecast so we are thankful for the great weather. I found a rock about the size on an individual pizza a ½” thick or so, to take home for my garden in the river we had to toss it up the bank ahead of us. I love the trees and sound of the of water running over the rocks is great we are next to the (Clearwater) river here on highway 12.
They were out of our favorite beverage so we had to settle for some water. Then we washed the wind shields off our bikes and covered them after putting the on center stands. I hung my swimming suit on my motor cycle mirror to dry. I saw a garter snake on our nature walk today. I’m just glad it was not a rattle snake!
We had a good dinner, resting and relaxing enjoying an air conditioned room for the first time in a week. There are fires here too but less smoke than we had had for the last five nights.

76 mi.
Some of our favorite spots to stay from travels in the area are ~ http://www.koa.com/where/mt/26101/facilities/groups.htm

http://www.koa.com/where/mt/26121/photogallery/index.htm
When we stopped at the Bison range, open range we saw a heard of elk, we were glad we had the binoculars with us. I got some post cards ready to go and mailed them off this morning to family.
Fires are in the headlines, some are in Darby now and they are evacuating and not letting anyone in through there so we are glad we did our loop of traveling the way we did or we would not have been able to see all the great scenery we have seen on this trip. There is heavy traffic coming out of Polson today, we met a lot of motor cycles today, loaded up like we were.
We drove by the smoke jumper’s station by the airport, boy was it full! The National Guard has called up and sent out to help fight all the fires. At St. Mary, Darby, and Dixie where we were near and other places too.
We soaked in the hot tub and went for a swim, had a snack and just generally relaxed and took it easy in the evening. We washed up our bikes they sure needed it.

Biker Blog 19 Polson, Mt.
Fire storm evacuation 9-4-98 Labor day weekend
Good travel out of white fish this morning just out side of town we spotted a Yamaha shop, so we turned around and went back. Dh has spotted a blue bike he wanted a closer look at, it was a Yamaha Venture 87 it was 1,300 cc with only 25,000 mi. on it I was looking around and they had some neat accessories. I was interested in a battery cover for my bike, it rattles on one side and one of the prongs is broken. They had a bike in for repairs with chrome battery covers on it like I wanted it was neat to see those, they were great I can order them from the shop at home. That was a fun stop!
On the way here I had to use my reserve on fuel then one mile later was a fuel stop that was neat, then it was only 3.75 mi. to our stop for the night.
Hot springs was not what we had expected. Smoke is rolling up from near by mountains, they were evacuating near Hot springs Dixie; cattle, and stuff. (County fair weekend at Plains. We did not stay ~ (Plains was evacuated the next day.)
A beautiful drive around this half (West) of Flathead lake, the town Lakeside is a beautiful, there were two church camps near there. (Methodist and Lutheran) When we got back to the Polson KOA we took a soak in the hot tub and went for a swim in the pool, showered and relaxed in the afternoon. We were going to go on the lake cruise but were miss informed on the time so we missed it. We will try it again tomorrow. Maybe the smoke will clear out. There is ash falling from the smoke in the sky.
We took the lake cruise at Polson this morning on flat head lake It was wonderful cool, in the relaxing 1½ hours on the cruise. Lots of smoke, fires are every where now in and around Darby too. We saw Boonie on the way too (A guy dh worked with that drives a Harley.)

Biker blog 18 St. Mary's Mt.
Vacation St Mary’s, Mt. 164 mi. 2 bikes
It was very windy travel today nerve wracking and slow going. Warm record highs. Forest fires are all around here this is new and rather scary. Good travel we arrived by 1:30 p.m. had lunch in town and fueled up. Parie Craft log home base tour did not turn out even though we had tried to make arrangements. That was disappointing for both of us.
Good travel the first half of the trip. Nice thick mattresses here! =D Hope to sleep better tonight cooler here up on top of the mountains great weather! We unload fast now! It’s becoming a habit! =D
We can hear helicopters dumping water on three major forest fires near by we are spitting distance from Canada where they have closed the roads in to tourists. Time to pray they are talking about possible evacuations tonight we discuss the option of not staying and decided to stick it out.
Dh washed his bike (I know now that washing a bike is a stress reliever for him.) We cover his bike leave mine uncovered we went for pin on it but there were out I had a smoothies and got some rolls for breakfast and stopped for beverages cause it’s SO hot! We learn there is a phase 2 county wide alert because of the fires and every one is edgy winds are gusting 50-60 mph. 40 now. Dh got me a neat card for my birthday. No cake party or other celebration.
I’m stiff and sore from the 600 steps in the cavern yesterday and achy.
People are concerned and talking about fire storms of before with the wind and all. This is not our best day! I washed my saddle bags (Now I’m stressed!) They were really getting dirty from when we road on wet roads on the Pinehurst rip. Hot tub only here not pool.
For lunch we had buffalo burgers and waffle fries delicious. Prices were a rip off however. We got to see a Kamping Kottage 14’ x 20’, it was neat fully self contained. We walked around the camp ground to unwind.
With all the smoke the sunset was neat, the smoke was billowing and creating this golden glow we could see ash is falling from the sky. The smoke looked just like clouds.
Fellows campers traded prizes, and stories. Food and snacks are costing more than we anticipated we now realize how much the motor cycle trailer saves us in that respect being able to bring our own. St. Marys’ cruise on the lake is not taking reservations because of the wild fires. We are disappointed about this.
